Like to cross-country ski or snowshoe on greenways, hiking areas or any other special places? A new web page has started to share knowledge on the best places for "skinny skiing" in Rhode Island. The page, called simply Rhode Island Cross-Country Skiing, contains a wealth of information on where to go. They also have a Facebook page called RIXCSki, at which you can post your suggestions on where to find and make great tracks. Items posted on the Facebook page eventually wind up on the main page. Like all other Facebook pages, you must have a Facebook profile to post.
Join fellow hikers on a unique challenge - a cross-state hike on the North South Trail (NST), covering 77 miles from Atlantic Ocean to the Massachusetts border.
The annual Trek of the NST takes place every spring, starting in March. Every other Saturday, hikers cover between 11 and 17 miles per day. More information is available on the Fact Sheet and Registration Form available on this website. The 2013 Trek begins March 9.
