Wilson Park Bike Path

Length: 2/3 mile loop path in park. Small walking path loop near ball fields, tennis courts and playground.

Grade: Mostly flat.

Trail condition: Fair - some repaving needed due to root encroachement.

Special characteristics: This short loop is quite scenic and provide access to a part of historic Wickford village that most people never see. The path runs in the north half of Wilson Park, with many water views and a wooded section. The path may serve as a link in a proposed 2.5-mile path from Wickford to Quonset. Also, path planned inside the Quonset Business Park to large conservation area with trails. Nearby to Wilson Park is a short pedestrian path that offers a serene look at the tidal ponds in Wickford and provides access to the North Kingstown Free Library.

Natural attractions nearby: Wildlife observation, boating, fishing, recreation fields, beach close by.

Historical attractions nearby: Smith's Castle (17th century trading post), historic homes in Wickford village, art galleries.

Services nearby: Shops, restaurants, grocery stores, schools, library, marinas, bike shop.

Directions: From Route 95, take Exit 9 to Rte. 4 south. Take Rte. 403, follow signs to Post Road. Take a left at Shell Station. After a couple of miles, between State Police Barracks and NK Police and Fire, take left onto Intrepid Drive. Follow to parking lot. Alternative is Rte. 4 south to Rte. 102 south to left on Route 1. In a mile, take right onto Rte. 1A and sign for Wilson Park is on the left.

Quonset Business Park paths and public access

The Quonset Business Park, a sprawling 3,000 acre site that once was two military bases is being transformed into an industrial park. Recent improvements include parking and access to Calf Pasture Point, a large undeveloped parcel offering a series of trails and miles of undeveloped beaches. Also recently built were established parking lots to three beaches which offer outstanding views of Narragansett Bay.
